Name all of the justices (including the chief justice) that currently sit on the Supreme Court.

Homework:

Monday 1/25: 1. Bring your ROUGH DRAFT of the Obituary to class tomorrow. The FINAL COPY and WORKS CONSULTED are due on Wednesday. 2. Finish the Bill of Rights sheets from class by Thursday.

Tuesday 1/26: 1. Bill of Rights sheets due Thurs. 2. Bring your textbook Wednesday-Friday. 3. Obituary project due TOMORROW. Please hand in the following IN YOUR RESEARCH FOLDERS:

1. Self-Evaluated Rubric (write your self-evaluation in the margin)

2. Final Draft (on the template)

3. One of your two copies of your works consulted

4. Rough Draft AND peer editing sheet

5. Notes (including the works consulted style sheets)

**You will hand in a separate, second copy of your works consulted to be graded by Ms. Ryan.

**This will ALL be handed in DURING CLASS on Wednesday, but you will have -5 points if it is not organized BEFORE you get to class!!

Wednesday, 1/27: 1. Try to watch at least some of the State of the Union Address at 9 PM. 2. Quiz on Civics In Action section on Monday, 3. finish Bill of Rights sheets if not done already

HW week of 1/19/10

We are in the Library on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

History Question of the Week:

The president’s cabinet includes the President, Vice President and the heads of 15 executive departments. Name THREE of these departments AND the names of the cabinet members who currently lead them.

Homework:

Tuesday 1/19: 1. Continue to work on your research (please aim to finish your notes by the end of class tomorrow!), 2. Portfolio due Thursday. (See last week’s blog for portfolio sheet if you have misplaced yours).

Wednesday 1/20: 1. Portfolio due tomorrow, 2. read “Civics in Action” section 1 and answer #1-6 on pg. 222 for tomorrow.

Thursday 1/21: 1. work on Obituary and Works Consulted (due 1/27)–see “projects” page above the Flag banner if you have misplaced your guidelines sheet, 2. Read “Civics in Action” section 2 and answer # 1-6 on pg. 227 for tomorrow.

Friday 1/22: 1. work on Obituary and Works Consulted (due 1/27), 2. Read “Civics in Action” section 3 and answer # 1-6 on pg. 230 for Monday.

Please Note:

We will be researching our Founding Fathers’ Obituary Projects in the Library on Friday, 1/15, Tuesday, 1/19, and Wednesday, 1/20. Classes will meet in the Library and you are required to bring your research materials in your 2-pocket folder each day. If you are absent, you are required to make up the missed research on your own time.

History Question of the Week:

What were the names of the people from Connecticut who signed the Constitution?

Homework:

Monday, 1/11 and Tuesday, 1/12: 1. Study for Wednesday’s chapter 7 test. (the Chapter 7 Jeopardy Pwrpt can help you study but should NOT be the only thing that you use to prepare!). 2. Gather your research materials and bring a 2-pocket folder with index cards and lined paper to class on Thursday.

Wednesday, 1/13: 1. bring research materials to class tomorrow, 2. Q2 Portfolio due 1/21.

Thursday, 1/14: 1. begin to research your project at home (you should have notes from at least one website by class tomorrow, websites can be found under “Founding Fathers Project” links to the right –>), 2. portfolio due 1/21 , **Meet in the Library TOMORROW** Extra project guidelines, rubrics, etc.  (along with the templates for the final draft) can be found on the “projects” page above the American Flag banner.

History Question of the Week:

We know Ben Franklin was the oldest delegate (age 81) to attend the Constitutional Convention. Who was the YOUNGEST delegate and how old was he?

Homework:

Monday 1/4: 7.3 TSS due Wednesday

Tuesday 1/5: 7.3 TSS due tomorrow

Wednesday 1/6-Friday 1/8:

1. There will be a Chapter 7 TEST next Wednesday (1/13). As promised, here is the Study Guide . **We will review IN CLASS on Tuesday 1/12. As such, there will not be a formal after school “review session” BUT I am ALWAYS available before and after school to answer any questions that you may have or help you with your study strategies.

2. Please bring in a 2-pocket folder as well as lined paper/index cards for NEXT THURSDAY (1/14). You need this for the project research that will be done in the library on 1/15, 1/19 and 1/20. More information on this project will be posted as we near the research dates.

Homework:

Monday 12/14-Wednesday 12/16: 1. Review course material and prepare for the DBQ midterm (create a web from the “outside material” pink sheet), 2. complete the DBQ prep sheet from class each day

Thursday 12/17: You should be ready to write about the DBQ tomorrow in class. Make sure you made a graphic organizer/outline (but you CAN NOT use it during class on Friday)

Friday 12/18: None–have a great weekend!

What were the names of the two rebels during Shay’s Rebellion that were hanged on December 6, 1787 (The others were pardoned in 1788).

Monday 12/7: United States Constitution Timeline Project due Thursday, Period 8 only: in your journals, respond to the following question (DUE WEDNESDAY):

“Sam Adams believed the colonists were right in rebelling against England, but the farmers of Massachusetts were wrong in rebelling against the state. Do you agree with Adams? Why or why not? Write a paragraph explaining your point of view.”

**Reminder: Period 8 will attend the geography bee on Tuesday. Please come to class FIRST and be there ON TIME. We will leave together for the auditorium.**

HW week of 11/30/09

Welcome back! I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving holiday. We will be starting our new unit on the Articles of Confederation/Constitution this week. YOU MAY CLEAN OUT (AND KEEP AT HOME) ALL OLD MATERIALS FROM YOUR BINDERS. Please keep the Essential Questions sheet, TSS guidelines, and any other “all year” material that you see fit to keep in your binder. You also need to keep all of your journals in your journal (DO NOT RIP OUT “OLD” JOURNALS!)

History Question of the Week:

On what date (Month-Day-Year) did the 2nd Contiental Congress agree to the Articles of Confederation? (NOT the date of Ratification). *Hint: it also happens to be a  month-day (but not year!) for Miss Lindquist.

Homework:

Monday 11/30 and Tuesday 12/1: Chapter 7, Section 1 TSS due Wednesday (BEFORE HOMEROOM!)

Wednesday 12/2: Chapter 7, Section 2 TSS due Friday (Before HR).
